About the symposium

The 30th International Symposium of the Groupe de recherche sur le système nerveux central (GRSNC) will be held on May 5-6, 2008 at Université de Montréal. The symposium is organized by Dr. Pierre Drapeau and Dr. Guy A. Rouleau.

This symposium will present new advances in the study of brain diseases, ranging from large-scale approaches to new genetic models in neurobiology. The approaches taken include synaptic proteomics, genomics of signaling pathways and bioinformatic interaction networks. The model organisms include mice, fish, flies and worms. The developmental diseases being studied include ataxias, autism, channelopathies, epilepsy, mental retardation, Tourette’s and schizophrenia. The integration of these new approaches is advancing our diagnosis and understanding of the causes of debilitating disorders of the central nervous system and the symposium is aimed at bridging the gap between basic neurosciences and clinical research.

Registration deadline: Thursday, May 1st 2008 inclusively

Venue of the symposium: Room B-2245, 3200 Jean-Brillant Pavilion, Université de Montréal
